NGINX Introduces New Application Platform

The open source delivery platform NGINX announced the launch of several new solutions that form the basis of the new NGINX Application Platform. Development teams can build or modernize applications with DevOps tools through this platform.

The new NGINX Application Platform offers a suite of products that provide a solution including added flexibility, stability, management and transparency. The platform consists of:

NGINX Plus, a combination of load balancer, content cache and web server. NGINX Plus expands open source NGINX with advanced features and award-winning support for a business-ready solution. Hundreds of clients are already relying on NGINX Plus, thanks to the guarantee that their applications are delivered without delay or delay. Now, at the thirteenth release, NGINX Plus is the software application delivery controller (ADC) for contemporary web applications.

NGINX Controller, a centralized management and control platform for NGINX Plus. It sends applications across multiple environments, enabling companies to continuously deploy and update applications using proven and proven policies. An integrated interface allows organizations to see how traffic is managed by all NGINX Plus agencies and how policies, which indicate how NGINX Plus performs load balancing, contentcaching, and other important application delivery features, are defined and executed.

NGINX Unit, a dynamic server for modern applications. Due to the increasing integration of micro services, organizations increasingly incorporate new features and functionalities. Current application servers used in static monolithic environments have trouble keeping this trend up. NGINX Unit is a new multilingual server for applications designed to function in highly dynamic environments. Part of this is also a REST API that can be fully automated and used to deploy new application versions without a failure. NGINX Unit currently supports PHP, Python and Go, which will provide more language support in the short term.

The NGINX Web Application Firewall (WAF), made possible by ModSecurity, protects web applications against various Layer 7 attacks and offers DdoS constraint, real-time blacklisting and audit logging. This was introduced for the first time as part of NGINX Plus Release 12 in May 2017. Today, over one million websites are protected by ModSecurity against all kinds of unwanted web attacks.

In addition to launching the NGINX Application Platform, NGINX has also offered the opportunity to use NGINX Plus as a Kubernetes Ingress Controller. Thanks to the open source NGINX Ingress Controller for Kubernetes, this new functionality of NGINX Plus enables organizations to deploy applications within Kubernetes and the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform throughout a cluster so that they can be achieved by external traffic.
