The worldwide market for printers and copiers grew by 0.7 percent in the second quarter of 2017, withmarket research company IDC selling 23.3 million printers.
According to the IDC Worldwide Quarterly Hardcopy Peripherals Tracker , both inkjet and laser printers were in decline, growing by 2.9 and 1.7 percent, respectively, in sales. Especially monochrome laser printers in the class 21 to 44 ppm were particularly popular, sales increased by 19.1 percent. HP and Canon in particular benefited from this. Furthermore, HP Inc knew more mfp’s to sell. Finally, there is more demand from SMEs that replace their printers more often.
HP Inc. is by far the market leader and grew 1.3 percent to grow. Second is Canon, third is Epson and fourth is Brother. Fifth place is Samsung.
